Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: April 2026
The plain-English version
Hotels-Hostels.com uses affiliate links. When you click a link and book a hotel, we may earn a commission from the booking platform — at no extra cost to you. This money helps keep the site free, independent, and free of banner ads. Our editorial opinions are never for sale.
How we earn money
Hotels-Hostels.com participates in affiliate marketing programs. This means that when you click a link on our site to a booking platform and complete a purchase or reservation, we may receive a commission from that platform.
We currently work with the following affiliate networks and booking platforms (this list may change):
- → Stay22 — hotel and accommodation comparison
- → Booking.com Partner Program
- → Hostelworld Affiliate Program
- → Hotels.com / Expedia Partner Network
- → Other accommodation-related programs from time to time
Commission rates vary by platform, typically between 3% and 8% of the booking value.
What this means for our reviews
We want to be unambiguous: affiliate relationships do not influence our editorial content. A hotel that pays a higher commission does not receive a better review. A property that doesn’t participate in affiliate programs is not excluded from coverage.
We review properties we believe are genuinely worth staying at. If a property doesn’t make the cut, we don’t publish a review — we don’t write negative reviews simply to drive traffic, and we don’t write positive reviews for commercial gain.
Our full editorial methodology is described on our How We Review page.
Identifying affiliate links
Affiliate links on Hotels-Hostels.com are marked with the text “Book now,” “Check prices,” “View deal,” or similar booking-oriented labels. They open in a new tab and link to the booking platform of our recommendation.
In the HTML, our affiliate links carry the attribute rel="noopener nofollow sponsored",
which is Google’s recommended markup for paid or affiliate links.
Complimentary stays & press trips
Occasionally, Hotels-Hostels.com editors accept complimentary accommodation from properties in exchange for editorial consideration. This does not mean a guaranteed positive review. Any review written following a complimentary stay will include a disclosure at the top of that review noting this arrangement.
We do not accept payment in exchange for coverage, ranking position, or editorial tone.
